Leota May Bruce
March 29, 1930-Aug. 30, 2014

Leota May Bruce, of Brookings, passed away Aug. 30, 2014, in Medford.

She was born March 29, 1930, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to James and Edna Lock.

Leota married Roy Bruce in 1947.

Leota worked in the food industry, managed a car wash, performed maid work, and worked at a retail dress shop.  She volunteered at Chetco Activity Center for more than 20 years.  Leota loved socializing with friends, and going out to eat.  She also enjoyed going to plays at community theaters, and playing Bingo in Brookings and Gold Beach.  She will be missed dearly.

Survivors include grandchildren Tommy and Jeff Pemberton, and Reuben Reeves, all of Southern California, Mike, Danny, and John South, all of Idaho, Melisa Mead of Grants Pass.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Bruce; children Mike Bruce, Linda Reeves and Connie Hale; siblings Ida Lock, Ila Carpenter, Sherlene Lock, and Orville and Leland Lock.

A potluck remembrance will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at Chetco Activity Center, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings.  Guests are requested to bring a favorite dish, pictures, articles, and memories of Leota.

Interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point.

Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
