Peggy “Dot” Louise (Morris) Hockenbury, 76, formerly of Arkansas City, died Tuesday (March 4, 2014) at the Lawrence Medical Center of Lawrence, Kansas.  Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday (March 10, 2014) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.

Dot was born July 7, 1937, in Ashton, Kansas, to Warren and Eunice (Bruce) Morris.  She was reared and educated in Geuda Springs and Oxford, graduating from Geuda Springs High School in 1955.  She married Harvey Hockenbury in 1957.  The couple lived in Arkansas City until 1972.  Dot returned to Arkansas City in 1981 through 1993.  In 1993, Dot moved to Greely, Kansas, and then to Lawrence in 2012.  Dot worked as a Payroll Clerk for the Smith-Moon Company, Haliburton and Pike Construction.  While living in Arkansas City, Dot attended the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children Tyler K. Hockenbury of Caldwell, Shelby Jo and husband Devin Lewis of ElDorado, Todd E. and his wife Tamantha Hockenbury of Lawrence; a brother Ronald “Butch” and his wife Connie Jo Hockenbury of Oxford; five grandchildren Jessie Hopper, Ralston McIlvain, Montana, Tanner and Keat Hockenbury; two great-grandchildren Taylor and Branden Hopper; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Monti Rae Hockenbury; siblings Carol Wayne Morris, Patricia Marie Nugen and Richard Bruce Morris.

A memorial has been established with the Geuda Springs Community Center.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
