Betty Vinson, 83, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 in a local nursing home.  Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 14th at the Trent Cemetery with Larry Gill officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Betty was born June 12, 1930 to Willie Faye Lynch and Albert Purser in Trent, (White Flat) Texas.  She married Lee Varnell Vinson February 24, 1972 in Roby, Texas.  He preceded her in death February 13, 2009.  She was a member of the Trent Church of Christ.  Her work history included civil service at Dyess Air Force Base for several years, property management, waitressing and house painting.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Bigbee and wife Elaine of New Braunfels, and Joe Bigbee and wife Margo of Denton; daughter, Pat Russell and husband Charles of Potosi; sister, Louise Canady of Merkel; brother, Bill Purser of San Angelo; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary; and three brothers, Kenneth, Virgil and H.A. Purser.

Memorials may be made to the Merkel Area Museum 1501 N. 7th, Merkel, Texas 79536.
