Doye L. Fannin, 90, a native Texas and resident of Marble Falls since June 2007, died June 10, 2015 at Legend Oaks/Granite Mesa Health Center in Marble Falls.

Born August 21, 1924 in Mullin, Texas, she was the oldest of four children of the late Lee P. and Ruby P. Burkett.

She graduated from high school in Brownwood, Texas in 1941 and in 1942 she met her husband, Robert Fannin to whom she has been married for 72 years.

She was a Christian and a member of the Robertson Avenue Baptist Church in Copperas Cove, Texas.

In addition to being a wife, and the mother of three children, she began a career in mid-life with the American National Red Cross, Service to Military Installations.  During her career she served at multiple military bases in the United States and overseas in South Korea and Germany.  As a Field Director/Station Director, she was responsible for all Red Cross programs available on the military base she was serving.  She was also a qualified Red Cross disaster relief worker and had several assignments providing assistance to people suffering from the effects of earthquakes, hurricanes and flooding.  In addition, in 1975, after the fall of Saigon, she had a special assignment to the United States Marine Corps Training Center in California as a staff member of the American National Red Cross team, processing refugees from South Vietnam.

She retired from Red Cross in January 1985 after 30 years of service.

In retirement she kept busy with family genealogy research and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack L. Burkett and Donald L. Burkett, son, Robert W. Fannin, Jr. and grandson Tracy G. Fannin.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Fannin, sister, June Burkett, daughter, Dolores A. Zaninelli and husband William, son Darryl R. Fannin and wife Linda, nephew, Lynn Burkett, niece, Judy Burkett, niece, Paula Brower and husband Briggs, niece Kathy Stroup and husband Robert and niece Donna Burkett.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 1-3 pm at the Clements Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel, Marble Falls, Texas.  Burial will be at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery near Killeen, Texas at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 15, 2015.
