Marvin Marvin "Sonny" Miller
(October 26, 1940 - April 18, 2015)

U.S. Veteran Marvin L. "Sonny" Miller, age 74, of Piedmont, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 near Piedmont.

He was born October 26, 1940 in Des Arc, MO, the son of Herbert and Leona (Adams) Miller.

Sonny was a Navy veteran, serving from 1958 to 1961, and serving in the Naval Reserve from 1961 to 1964.  He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Local # 727 in Park Ridge, IL.  Sonny owned and operated Miller's Bait and Tackle in Piedmont and spent all the time he could fishing at Clearwater Lake.

He was married to Sharon Sue Greer June 22, 1963 at East St. Louis, IL and she passed away October 21, 2005.

Also preceding him in death are his parents, Herbert and Leona Miller, one son, Gerald Miller, and one sister, Lois Counts.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Sherryl Miller and Michelle Miller, both of Piedmont, Julie Moore, of Dexter, MO; 2 sons, Les Miller and Will Miller, both of Piedmont; 7 sisters, Peggy Gabriel, of Troy, IL; Alice Textor, of Willard, MO; Betty Summers, of Boulder, IL; Janet Matchall, of Halfway, MO; Darlene Connors, Rita Dahm, of Willard, MO; Sandy Smith, of Boliver, MO.; 2 brothers, Glen Miller, of Piedmont; Chris Miller, of Lake Ozarks, MO;

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Morrison-Worley Chapel in Piedmont with Rev. Bobby Brown officiating.

Stephanie Miller and Courtney Miller gave tributes and Megan Pickett sang a special song.  Will Miller, Chris Miller, Tyler Miller, Jeff Miller, Michael Miller and Joshua Moore served as Pall bearers.

Graveside Honors were provided by the US Navy and the Piedmont American Legion Post # 281 Honor Guard.  Interment was in the Meadows Cemetery near Annapolis under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel.
