1924 - 2015

Funeral service for Edith M. “Granny” Parton, 91 of Waldo will be Monday September 14, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. David Gaither will officiate and burial will be in Stockdale Cemetery.  Her family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 pm at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega.

Mrs. Parton passed away at her home September 12, 2015.

Granny was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 1/2 years John V. Parton, Sr. “Tommy”, daughters, Ruby Parton Hurst, Brenda Parton Easterwood, grandson, Douglas Dewayne Chandler, great grandson, Zander Crim, parents, Ernest and Annie Perkins and seven brothers.

She was a lifelong resident of Talladega where she was a member of Stockdale Baptist Church.  She loved her family, flowers and took pride in the quilts she made.

Granny is survived by her son, John V. Parton (Julia), son-in-law, Larry Hurst, grandchildren, Darlene Bishop, Stella Hall (Jeff), Vicki Gentry (Tim), Bethany Mellon, Patrick Parton (Lisa), Margaret Chandler, 13 great grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, brothers, Troyce Perkins (Bo), Roy Perkins (Barbara), sisters, Ann Wycoff, Helen Wesley (Brad) and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jason Bishop, Matt Peters, Anthony Wesley, Mike Crim, Jeff Hall and Jay Wesley. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Crim, Russell Bishop and Jaylin Peters.

Special thanks to Hospice of Alabama, Sharon Barkley, Stan Mills, Dee Dee Lewis, Sharon Burton, Debra Morrison and to Dr. Ashraf and staff.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be sent to Hospice of Alabama.
