Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Gloria Viola Pruitt, 87, of Gadsden, who passed away March 7, 2015.  Bro. Lauil Thompson will officiate.  Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.  Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.

Viola Pruitt, a God-fearing and gracious Southern woman, graduated Etowah High School in 1947.  First and foremost, Mrs. Pruitt was a loving wife and mother and a world class homemaker who spent her life caring for and providing for her large family and many friends.  She loved gardening, cooking, ceramics, volunteering for the church and spending time with her family.  No one ever left her house hungry or without a cold glass of sweet iced tea for the road.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo Marvin and Arrie Viola Pearman; sister, Mildred Louise Temple; brothers, Mike and Alonzo Marvin Pearman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jimmy Pruitt; son, Greg and Wanda Pruitt of Birmingham; daughter, Lynn Pruitt of Sylacauga, AL; and son, Philip and Patricia Pruitt of Niceville, FL; sisters, Lois Wood and Ilene Pentecost; brother, Kenneth Pearman; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Pruitt, Jay Ferguson, Joe Ferguson, Adam Maddox, Brett Thach, Will McGarity, Collin Pruitt and Colby Pruitt.

The family extends special thanks to the caregivers at Gadsden Health and Rehab Center.

Visitation will be Saturday from noon until the hour of service.
