Gladys O. Quesenbury Wood
Gladys Wood, 84, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Sunday evening, February 1, 2015 at the BSA Hospice in Amarillo, Texas. The only child of Zollie Lawson and Susie Ellen (Hackney) Quesenbury, Gladys Owen Quesenbury was born March 12, 1930 in Noreen, Tennessee. Gladys graduated from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Tennessee with the Class of 1948 Gladys and Marion Wood were united in marriage on September 26, 1948 in Guymon, Oklahoma. As the mother of six, Gladys was a devoted homemaker. After raising her family, she began working for the Texas County Assessor’s office, where she worked for many years until retiring. She was a member of the Grace Southern Baptist Church. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Mike Wood. Survivors include her husband of over 66 years, Marion Wood; one son, Owen Wood of Lahoma, Oklahoma; four daughters: Debbie LeGrange and husband, Bill of Amarillo, Texas, Joyce Hughes and husband, Mike of Amarillo, Texas, Tammy Melms of Grapevine, Texas, and Cindy Miller and husband, Irvin of Taloga, Oklahoma. Gladys is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, February 4th at 10:00 a.m. at the Grace Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. The Wood family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, February 3rd from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials in memory of Gladys can be given to Meals On Wheels.
