U.L. Smith Ray and Martha's Funeral Home
U.L. Smith, 96, of Dill City, Oklahoma, left this earthly life on Sunday, October 9, 2016. U.L. was born in Hollis, Oklahoma, on April 7, 1920. He attended school at Bitter Creek and Dill City, Oklahoma. U.L. married the love of his life, Ladonia Teel, on December 21, 1945. They spent the next 37 years farming south of Sentinel, and raising their three children. U.L. and Ladonia shared their life together for 70 happy years. He was drafted into the Army in 1941. U.L. was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and served in the South Pacific theater, but most importantly, he was a soldier for Christ. His love for the Church and its members was strong. He served as elder at the Plains Avenue Church of Christ in Dill City. U.L. preached for many years and preached his last sermon when he was 90 years of age, and quoted scripture from memory. His legacy and influence can be found with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the lives they lead for Christ. U.L.’s survivors include his wife, Ladonia Smith of the home; daughters, Brenda Jarrell and husband, Larry of Cordell, Oklahoma, and Dianne Bratcher and husband, Randy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; son, Randall Smith and wife, Betty of Stillwater, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jason Jarrell and wife, Vicki of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Andrea Fernandez and husband, Jeremy of Mounds, Oklahoma; Rebecca Brock and husband, Mike of Edmond, Oklahoma; Valeria Hanley of Sunnyville, Texas, Queena Dickey and husband, Matthew of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Audrey McDonald and husband, Josh of Providence, Rhode Island, Donald Smith and wife, Ashlyn of Lubbock, Texas, and Mario Smith and wife, Merri Ann of Shenandoah, Texas; great-grandchildren, Callie, Dax, Connor, Leah, Emery, Brady, Abby, Jack, Drake, Drew, Eli, Bryson, Gabby, J.J., Danica, Averie, and Ty; brother, Herbert Smith and wife, Joy of San Antonio, Texas; and sisters, Lois Linn of Arkansas, Frances Mullins of Dumas, Texas, and Cleta Haney of Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Agnus Smith; sisters, Doris Jeder and Zella Mae Gray; brothers, Denzil Smith, Burnad Smith, Everett Smith, and Valton Smith; and grandson-in-law, Chad Hanley. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Plains Avenue Church of Christ, Dill City Oklahoma.
