Bobby
June Burkett, 84, left her earthly home for her heavenly home Thursday,
March 16, 2017. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in Greenwood
Memorial Park. Aunt Bobby was born on July 15, 1932, in Locker to
Lee P. Burkett and Ruby Lewis Burkett. After graduating from
college, she worked for the Department of Agriculture as a nutritionist,
which allowed her the opportunity to travel throughout the United States.
After a long career with the government, she taught first grade for many
years at Forest Hill Elementary School where she found her true passion.
She never married, but her nieces and nephews were like her own children.
She attended Woodmont Church of Christ. Aunt Bobby was preceded in
death by her parents; her brothers, Jack Burkett and Don Burkett; her
sister, Doye Fannin. Survivors: Nieces, Dee Zaninelli, Donna
Burkett, Kathy Stroup, Judy Burkett, and Paula Brower; nephews, Darrell
Fannin, Lee Burkett, and Lynn Burkett; together with numerous great-nieces
and great-nephews.
