Marvin Ray McMahon, Jr. Fuller Metz Funeral Home
CDR Marvin R. McMahon, Jr., USN Ret., passed away on November 17, 2017 at 84 years of age. He was born in Washington, D.C. at St. Mary's Hospital on September 30, 1933 to parents Mabel and Marvin McMahon. Marv grew up in Atlanta, GA and graduated from High School in 1951. In 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Webb. After graduating from college in 1957, Marv joined the Navy and became a pilot. He flew search and rescue helicopters in Vietnam. He served in the Navy for 28 years before retiring. Marv received his Master's Degree and taught at the local Junior College, and also worked for the government for several years. Eventually he became interested in boating and purchased a yacht with his wife. They traveled up and down the inter-coastal waters and went to the Islands for 5 weeks. They lived in Fort Myers, FL and joined the Royal Palm Yacht Club, where Marv became the Commodore in 2006. After that time, he and Joan sold their yacht and traveled all around the world. Marv was preceded in death by their son, David. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Joan and their children, Michael (Deb) and Debra (Bill); as well as two grandchildren, Billy John and Caroline Joan. A memorial mass will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1:00PM, followed by a reception hosted at Fuller Metz Funeral Home on Del Prado Blvd. in Cape Coral.
