Pompeys Pillar Boy Accidentally Kills Sister With Rifle

Billings, Sept. 26 -- A rifle in the hands of a youth at Pompeys Pillar Saturday brought a tragic end to the life of his younger sister 10-year old Ruth Vera Lindeen, who died of internal hemorrhages and shock in a Billings hospital at 7 o'clock this evening.

Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin E. Lindeen, farmers near Corinth had come to Billings in the morning and Bruce Lindeen was shooting at a target with a small caliber rifle when his sister dashed in front of him and was accidentally hit by a bullet, according to the information received here.

Ruth was rushed to Billings for medical attention.  The bullet had enter the abdomen and penetrated large blood vessels.  Her parents who were in Billings were located when she was brought here by friends.

The girl was a pupil in the fifth grade at Pompeys Pillar, where they are living while the children attend school.  She is survived by another brother, John, six years old, and a sister Lola, 13.
